Verified Identity and Bot Resistance

Narrativ is designed to produce high-signal data and reward real participation. That only works if the system can reliably reduce bot activity, duplicate accounts, and incentive farming.
Verified identity helps increase signal quality and protect the integrity of:
Indices and data products
Rewards and prize pools
Market participation

What "verified identity" means in Narrativ#

Verified identity is a system state tied to an account that signals a higher level of assurance that the account represents a real participant.
This state is used to:
improve de-duplication and continuity across connected profiles
reduce Sybil behavior (one person operating many accounts)
prevent reward farming and market manipulation at the edges

Verification states#

We treat verification as a tiered capability, not a single on/off switch:
Unverified: baseline access
Pending: in review / in progress
Verified: eligible for higher-integrity flows
Restricted: limited due to detected abuse patterns or policy violations

Where verification is applied#

Verification may be required or weighted more heavily for:
Prize pool eligibility (depending on policy and jurisdiction)
Higher-value permission categories
Higher-impact market participation
Large withdrawals or payouts (where applicable)
The goal is not to collect identity "for its own sake." The goal is to maintain a fair and reliable network where reward and market incentives can't be trivially gamed.

Bot resistance (our approach)#

Narrativ uses multiple layers of defense that work together:
1) Account Assurance
2) Network Integrity
3) Economic Abuse Prevention
4) Auditability

Privacy and minimization#

Verification is used to protect the network. Narrativ aims to minimize collection and retain only what is necessary to:
prevent abuse
maintain compliance
preserve auditability
Users can still control permissions and participation. Verification primarily affects eligibility for high-integrity flows such as prize pools and certain higher-value features.
